Lorin, our electronics warden, is presenting a solder-thon this weekend!
The hive 13 solder-thon will be this Sunday November 22nd, from 1pm-6pm at the Hive 13 hackerspace.
Come on down to the rootinest-tootinest solder wranglin' rodeo in the O-H-I-O! Old hands and greenhorns welcome. Bring something you've been meaning to solder, mend, or mangle. Get expert advice from solder slinger Lorin Parker (he'd even teach you about scopes and test gear for a smile). Learn and practice assembly, cable making, through hole soldering, hot air rework, SMD, and hang out with some cheesy movies and light ein wenig Licht Lötmusik.
Free for all members. Non-members welcome with donation to Hive13 (limited seating).
Hello everyone! Our new sidewalk is (mostly) finished! Just a few notes to consider with the new sidewalk:
- The curb is a bit higher than our old one, so be careful when stepping up over it.
- The sidewalk was made about a foot wider, so be careful with oncoming traffic.
- During the spring they will plant trees in front of our building, with one smack dab in front of our door. This will make it easier for prospective members to find the space (look for the trees) but hard for people to find the door.
That's all I have for now, thanks for reading!

Hive 13 Collaboration! CAC Makerspace: Noise Hack
By dustin on Under CAC, Collaboration, Contemporary Arts center, Hack, Noise
We are working with the Contemporary Arts Center for their Makerspace event: Noise hacking. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Join us for an evening of sound experiments, create your own crystal radio and learn how you can turn a sticky note into a speaker.
This event is open to the community and all ages are welcome with parental observation. All participants will be asked to sign a waiver before using any tools.
This event also gives you access to check out the art displayed at the contemporary arts center, so if you haven’t checked out their space, now’s the time to do it!
Hello Everyone! Sorry for the late post, but Lorin will be having an electronics open house
on Thursday, June 25 from 5:30pm to 8pm.
This is open to the public and members alike. You can stop in at any point during the open house or stay for all of the open shop hours.
So stop on down with a project and Lorin will be happy to help you, or drop by to re-familiarize yourself with our electronics area. He will be there to help people with projects, introduce folks to the space, and answer questions!
Thanks Lorin for your outstanding efforts here at the hive! Bravo!
