A Gentle Introduction to Arduino - April 19

On Wednesday, April 19 from 6-9PM, Hive 13 secretary and resident curmudgeon Ryan Hershey will provide a gentle introduction to the Arduino. This will be extremely shallow coverage of the first steps required. Those already capable of installing the Arduno software and of basic C programming will find little of interest.

If however, you've wanted to use microcontrollers in your projects but been stymied by one or more of the listed topics, this overview should prove useful.

For further detail or to sign up, please follow the Eventbrite link below.

CNC Intro Class - April 15th

By Ian Blais on

CNC

Intro to the CNC router. We will cover CAD, CAM and postprocessing as well as info on mills (router bits) and calculating "feeds and speeds" in the AM session. After a break (bring your lunch or go out on your own),
we will demonstrate the Hive 1 3 CNC router and each attendee will run a tool path.
The fee includes a mill and a piece of plywood to take along.
To qualify to use the Hive 1 3 CNC we require that you complete this seminar, then contact a Hive 1 3 CNC machinist and have them observe you running your own (simple) project.
You can contact a machinist via the Hive 13 mailing list.
Non members will need to sign a release before taking the course.

By Brad Walsh on

Meet out newest electronic tools April 1 2017 12:00-2:00

Brad Walsh will be giving a "hands on" talk to introduce our newest additions to the electronics area; Rigol DS1054Z oscilloscope and a Rigol DG1022 function generator. These new purchases bring us into the modern age. (If the logic analyzer arrives we may even talk about that also).

Eventbrite link:

No charge for this talk, but you get what you pay for. This will just be basic oscilloscope operation and we will examine some simple circuits.
